It seeks to build a foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation between coffee-producing and coffee-consuming countries and to develop Goyang Special City as a key global hub for the coffee industry.
Through this collaboration, the city will create an industrial ecosystem encompassing the import, processing, and distribution of coffee green beans, thereby generating jobs and enhancing the quality competitiveness of local small businesses and coffee shops.
In addition, a stable green bean supply system will be established through the 12 coffee producer cooperatives and a network spanning 25 countries operated by Good Neighbors Global Impact Foundation. The plan is to create a distribution structure that reflects eco-friendly and fair trade values from the production stage onward.
The city expects that this agreement will lead to the establishment of a stable supply chain for high-quality green beans both domestically and internationally, and will promote the spread of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values throughout the coffee industry.
In particular, it is anticipated that this distribution cooperation structure will enable local small businesses, such as small roasteries and coffee shops that have recently faced challenges due to soaring international coffee prices and supply-demand imbalances, to secure a stable supply of coffee green beans.
