On October 13, Jindo County announced that it recently held the "National Resolution Rally for Inclusion of Jindo High-Speed Rail in the National Plan" in the county office's main conference hall, organized by the Jindo High-Speed Rail Promotion Committee.
Approximately 300 participants, including committee members, heads of local organizations, and residents, attended the event and called in unison for the inclusion of the Jindo High-Speed Rail in the national plan. The participants adopted a resolution stating, "Jindo County is the shortest route to Jeju Island and the optimal location for land and sea transportation connectivity." They further demanded, "South Jeolla Province should actively recommend the inclusion of the Jindo High-Speed Rail in the national plan to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the government should expand transportation infrastructure in the western region of South Jeolla Province."
The resolution was delivered to Kim Heesoo, Governor of Jindo County, Park Geumrae, Chairperson of the County Council, and Park Jongon, Co-Chair of the Promotion Committee. Jo Nayeong, President of the Jindo County Women's Association Council, read a letter addressed to the President, appealing, "High-speed rail must be connected to Jindo so that future generations are not placed at a disadvantage due to transportation limitations."
Park Jongon, Co-Chair of the Promotion Committee, stated, "It is regrettable that Jindo County's proposal was not delivered during the process of establishing the national rail network plan," and emphasized, "Residents must unite to ensure that President Lee Jaemyung's pledge to extend the Honam High-Speed Rail to Jindo County is fulfilled."
Governor Kim Heesoo stressed, "Jindo has endured national sacrifices such as the Sewol ferry disaster and the installation of transmission lines, yet still faces transportation limitations and the risk of regional extinction. In line with President Lee Jaemyung's principle of 'special compensation for special sacrifice,' the Jindo High-Speed Rail must be included in the national plan."
