The specialized pottery class operated by the Yeongam Ceramic Museum in South Jeolla Province is establishing itself as a central hub for nurturing local pottery talent.

On October 13, the Yeongam Ceramic Museum announced that five trainees from its specialized pottery class had passed the national technical qualification exam for Ceramic Craft Technician, administered by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.

The Ceramic Craft Technician exam is a highly challenging qualification test, consisting of three written subjects-craft design, ceramic materials, and ceramic crafts-as well as a practical exam that takes more than five hours and thirty minutes to complete.

Last year and this year, the museum opened its specialized pottery class with a quota of ten students each year, providing systematic, practice-oriented education. Last year, two out of nine trainees earned their certificates, and this year, all three candidates who took the exam passed, demonstrating the effectiveness of the program. Notably, among this year's successful candidates was a trainee who had passed the written test last year and had been preparing for the practical exam, highlighting the results of consistent study and repeated practice.

Park Yeonhee, team leader at the Yeongam Ceramic Museum, stated, "Even those without a background in the field were able to earn their certificates through steady practice and professional training. We will continue to strengthen our support so that local residents can experience ceramic culture and grow into skilled professionals."

The Yeongam Ceramic Museum plans to hold an exhibition of works by the specialized pottery class trainees in December to share their achievements, and will expand its diverse pottery education programs next year as well.
