Announces New Commitment to Achieve Carbon Neutrality with the Local Community
Shinhan University announced on October 1 that it successfully hosted the "Climate and Environmental Activists' Day for Leading Carbon Neutrality Response to the Climate Crisis in Northern Gyeonggi" event at the Eben-Ezer Hall Amphitheater on the Uijeongbu campus on September 30.

View original imageThis event, organized to reaffirm the commitment to responding to the climate crisis and transitioning to a carbon-neutral society, was attended by more than 300 students and citizens, as well as key figures such as Kang Sungjong, president of Shinhan University, Kim Donggeun, mayor of Uijeongbu, and Choi Jaecheol, chairman of the Climate Change Center Foundation, creating a highly enthusiastic atmosphere.
The first part of the event began with an inauguration ceremony for climate and environmental activists. The activists officially launched their activities by reading a declaration pledging their determination to overcome the climate crisis through carbon neutrality. Through this inauguration, Shinhan University reaffirmed its commitment to actively address climate change issues in collaboration with the local community and to realize a carbon-neutral society.
Following this, Shinhan University, the Climate Change Center Foundation, and the Uijeongbu City Carbon Neutral Support Center signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) to respond to the climate crisis and practice carbon neutrality. The purpose of this agreement is for the three organizations to cooperate in promoting joint projects to realize a carbon-neutral society and to establish a system for nurturing and supporting carbon-neutral activists within the local community.
After the MOU signing, the second part of the event featured an introduction of the center's initiatives by Kim Jongkyu, director of the Uijeongbu City Carbon Neutral Support Center, followed by keynote speeches and session presentations by Kim Jongryul, deputy secretary general of the 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee, Choi Jaecheol, chairman of the Climate Change Center Foundation, and Joo Jincheol, professor at Hanbat National University. Participants shared in-depth knowledge and information on carbon neutrality.

View original imageMeanwhile, around the event venue, carbon neutrality experience booths operated by various organizations, including the Uijeongbu City Carbon Neutral Support Center and the Shinhan University ESG Innovation Group, received an enthusiastic response. In particular, the Uijeongbu City Carbon Neutral Support Center set up a promotional booth for the "Climate Action Basic Income" app, presenting concrete ways to practice carbon neutrality in daily life.
