Ganam-eup in Yeoju City Becomes the Third Ttokbus Service Area After Buknae-myeon and Gangcheon-myeon
Pilot Operation Begins on the 1st... Full Service Starts on the 10th
Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced that starting from October 1, it will begin a pilot operation of the "Ttokbus" in the Ganam-eup area of Yeoju City, with full-scale operations set to commence on October 10.
The Ttokbus service in Yeoju City was first introduced in June 2024 in the Dong district, Buknae-myeon, and Gangcheon-myeon. This time, the service area has been expanded to include Ganam-eup.
Ganam-eup is the most populous area among the towns and townships of Yeoju City. It was selected as the first pilot project area for the reorganization of the public transportation system, which aims to resolve transportation issues and improve convenience for residents. Accordingly, the existing city bus routes within Ganam-eup will be consolidated or abolished, and Ttokbus vehicles will be deployed in their place to provide more convenient mobility services. This signifies that Ttokbus has evolved from a supplementary means of transportation to city buses to now being recognized as a true alternative mode of transport.
For this operation, five 8-seater Staria vehicles will be deployed instead of the previously used 11- and 13-seater Solati vehicles. These will serve alleyways and village halls-areas previously underserved by regular buses-thereby improving accessibility for transportation-vulnerable regions. Through this service expansion, a more detailed and dense transportation network will be established, ensuring residents' right to mobility.
The service operates daily from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, with the last call for rides accepted at 11:30 p.m.
Fares, when using a transportation card, are the same as the standard Gyeonggi Province city bus fares: 1,450 won for adults, 1,010 won for teenagers, and 730 won for children. The integrated metropolitan area transfer discount also applies.
To use Ttokbus, passengers can enter their departure and destination points in the "Ttokta" app to call a Ttokbus in real time and receive information about the pick-up location and vehicle. For those who find the app difficult to use, Ttokbus can also be accessed via phone reservation.
Min Kyungseon, President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, stated, "We are very pleased that Ttokbus is now recognized as an alternative, rather than just a supplement, to city buses. This reorganization of Yeoju City's public transportation system will serve as a foundation for redefining the significance of Ttokbus," adding, "Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation will continue to pursue an integrated public transportation system where Ttokbus and existing public transit coexist harmoniously."
