HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has officially entered the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business for U.S. Navy logistics support vessels.
On September 30, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that the 41,000-ton cargo replenishment ship USNS Alan Shepard, belonging to the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet, has entered Yeompo Pier near HD Hyundai Mipo in Dong-gu, Ulsan, for regular maintenance. This project, which the company secured last month, involves a vessel measuring 210 meters in length, 32 meters in width, and 9.4 meters in height. Starting today, the company will sequentially carry out safety equipment and facility inspections, maintenance of various tanks, and equipment checks, aiming to complete the maintenance by the end of the year and deliver the ship back to the U.S. Navy.

In particular, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is pursuing a merger with HD Hyundai Mipo, aiming for completion in December. After the merger, the use of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard's dock and quay infrastructure is expected to further strengthen the company's ability to service overseas naval logistics vessels.
