Daedong Launches Full-Scale Push into the World’s Fourth-Largest Agricultural Machinery Market, Turkey
Participation in Turkey’s Four Major Agricultural Machinery Fairs, Including Next Month’s Bursa Agricultural Fair
Goal to Achieve 5% Share of the Turkish Tractor Market Within Three Years
Daedong, a leading agricultural machinery company in Korea, has begun a full-scale push into the Turkish tractor market. Turkey is the world’s fourth-largest agricultural machinery market, with over 60,000 tractors sold annually.
On September 30, Daedong announced that it would participate in the 'Bursa Agricultural Fair' to be held in Turkey next month. This exhibition is considered one of Turkey’s four major agricultural machinery fairs, alongside the Konya Agricultural Fair held in April and the Adana Agricultural Fair in November. It serves as a strategic stage where global agricultural machinery manufacturers, as well as various agribusiness companies and dealers, gather. Daedong’s strategy is to expand the local market share of its 'KIOTI' brand by participating consecutively in Bursa and Adana this fall.
Daedong, which sells tractors overseas under the 'KIOTI' brand, is focusing on the Turkish market because it is expected to be hit by tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in the United States, its largest export market, making the development of new markets more urgent than ever. Tractor sales in Turkey increased by about 25%, from approximately 54,000 units in 2020 to around 68,000 units in 2022, and the market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 7.6% until 2030. With a variety of climate zones and fertile plains, Turkey is recognized as a major agricultural powerhouse capable of cultivating a wide range of crops, from Mediterranean produce to grains and forage crops. Currently, more than 24 tractor manufacturers are competing in the market, and success requires both quality and price competitiveness, as well as brand differentiation.
At the end of 2023, Daedong began expanding its local business by signing a supply contract worth 350 billion KRW with Aral Group, a Turkish agricultural machinery distributor. This year, the company has been implementing various strategies to increase its market share. In addition to participating in the four major agricultural machinery exhibitions, Daedong also held the 'KIOTI Roadshow 2025', touring key agricultural regions in Turkey to showcase and demonstrate its tractor products. This month’s roadshow took place over eight days, from September 19 to 26, visiting four cities-Sakarya, Sivas, Tokat, and Samsun-and attracted approximately 6,000 visitors, more than ten times the number from the previous year. Notably, Daedong showcased a total of 10 flagship tractor models at the roadshow, with eight models in the mid- to high-horsepower range of 60 to 140 horsepower. This targeted Turkey’s strong preference for medium and higher horsepower tractors suitable for multipurpose farming, as well as the steadily increasing demand for around 100-horsepower models driven by government policies encouraging grain production and expanding subsidies. As a result, Daedong secured on-site orders for approximately 130 tractors during the roadshow.
