During the event, students encouraged each other by presenting a variety of performances, including traditional dance, choir, and theater.
At the event, Chairman Choi said, "I could see the students growing up with the right values," and added, "I hope you will continue to pursue your dreams confidently on the global stage, beyond Korea and Japan, with confidence and a sense of accomplishment."
Prior to the cultural festival, he also met with representatives of the parents' association who successfully led the '2025 Kumgang Madang' and expressed his gratitude.
Since taking office as chairman of Kumgang School in 2019, Chairman Choi has participated in major events every year, including entrance ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, sports days, and academic and cultural festivals, maintaining close interactions with the students.
Born in Nagoya, Japan, as a third-generation Korean-Japanese, he holds the belief that "education is the driving force for being proudly recognized in Japanese society." Guided by this conviction, as chairman of Kumgang School-the first overseas Korean school in Korea-he has been dedicated to helping younger generations clearly recognize their Korean heritage.
He also took the lead in transforming Kumgang School, which once faced the risk of closure. He changed the school's name from 'Osaka Kumgang School' to 'Osaka Kumgang International School (OKIS)', created and donated a new school song, and redesigned the school uniform, emblem, school flag, exterior signage, and school bus. In addition, he reformed the curriculum by introducing a foreign language immersion program and improved educational infrastructure by installing an artificial turf field and air conditioning and heating systems in the gymnasium.
As a result of these efforts, the number of students, which had once dropped to the 190s, recovered to over 300 within 12 years.
