This visit was arranged to directly check the supply and demand of ritual foods and price trends, to review measures for stabilizing holiday prices, and to encourage those working at the market from early dawn.
Governor Kim visited the auction house to observe the shipping and auction processes for key items featured on the Chuseok table, such as apples and pears, and checked price trends and supply conditions. On this day, apples were being traded at 75,000 won per 5 kilograms, which is about 30% higher than the average price in previous years. Shine Muscat grapes were being sold at 8,000 won per 2 kilograms, reflecting a 40% decrease compared to the average price in previous years.
He also checked the price fluctuations and changes in consumer demand for each item, emphasizing, "Price management that residents can truly feel is more important than anything else."
Governor Kim told wholesale market officials, "While the sun is just beginning to rise, all the work at the wholesale market is already done," and expressed his gratitude to those who work hard from early morning to supply fresh agricultural products.
He added, "As the Chuseok holiday approaches, agricultural product prices are gradually rising. We plan to manage this by setting up a comprehensive price management situation room at the provincial government and operating a reporting center to ensure that Chuseok table prices do not rise excessively."
He also stated, "Especially with recent droughts raising concerns about the supply of highland crops, we will thoroughly manage prices by adjusting supply volumes as needed."
