Hyundai Motor Chung Mongkoo Foundation Co-Hosts Nam June Paik Special Exhibition in New York
Held at the New York Korean Cultural Center, USA
from September 26 to November 22
The Hyundai Motor Chung Mongkoo Foundation will serve as a co-host for the Nam June Paik special exhibition held in New York, United States.
On September 25, the foundation announced that it will co-host the exhibition "Nam June Paik: The Communicator" together with the New York Korean Cultural Center and the Nam June Paik Art Center. The exhibition will be held at the New York Korean Cultural Center from September 26 to November 22.
This exhibition reinterprets Nam June Paik's vision, which explored "communication" as the essence of art, within a contemporary context. It features more than 30 works, including video art, paintings, and drawings, with major pieces such as "Lottery of Genghis Khan," "TV Cello," "Main Channel Matrix," and the Robot Series.
In addition, Kim Areum, the grand prize winner of the "Onso Artist Open Call 2025" competition for young artists hosted by the foundation, will participate in this exhibition and present her media artwork "Car to the Future."
This piece was inspired by Nam June Paik's "Lottery of Genghis Khan." Based on the themes of love and coexistence, it envisions technology not as a mere tool but as a driving force that connects people. Through this, the artist suggests that the future we are heading toward could also be a new form of love.
