The Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced on the 23rd that a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, was arrested and detained on charges of obstructing official duties through fraudulent means.
Mr. A is accused of making 58,307 false reports over the past year, including claims such as "I am being held captive" and "Someone stole my refrigerator," which resulted in police being dispatched to the scene 51 times.
It was also confirmed that in May, after receiving a notice of violation under the Minor Offenses Act for a false report, Mr. A, dissatisfied with the outcome, made a total of 1,882 reports over a four-day period.
