Chosun University Hospital Establishes Regional Healthcare Delivery System with Partner Hospitals
Chosun University Hospital announced on September 23 that it is actively visiting partner hospitals within the Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, and Jeollabuk-do regions to expand its specialized referral and transfer system and strengthen the regional healthcare delivery network.
During June and July, the hospital visited 13 institutions in the Gwangju area, including Gwangju Christian Hospital, Gwangju Veterans Hospital, and Gwangju Central Hospital, as well as 7 institutions in the Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do regions, such as Haenam General Hospital and Jeongeup Korea Hospital, to discuss collaboration strategies.
This round of visits is part of ongoing efforts to enhance regional medical capabilities and establish a comprehensive local healthcare delivery system, following Chosun University Hospital’s designation last year as a participant in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s “Support Project for the Restructuring of Tertiary General Hospitals.”
During meetings with partner hospitals, discussions focused on advancing the patient referral and transfer system, establishing fast-track medical connections, expanding educational programs, and strengthening mutual exchanges. Through these efforts, the hospital aims to create a system that enables patients to receive treatment more quickly and safely.
The government is also implementing policies to strengthen essential medical services and cooperation within regions. By fostering collaboration between tertiary general hospitals and local primary and secondary medical institutions, and by utilizing systems such as the medical information exchange system and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service intermediary system, the referral and transfer process is being activated so that patients can receive care locally without having to visit large hospitals.
The Medical Cooperation Center at Chosun University Hospital is actively adopting these policy directions, strengthening close connections with partner hospitals, and fulfilling its role as a hub for regional medical cooperation.
Since June 2020, Chosun University Hospital has operated the “Medical Information Exchange Service,” allowing the sharing of medical records between hospitals. This initiative not only enhances the speed and continuity of treatment but also reduces redundant tests and prescriptions, thereby improving patient access and convenience.
Kim Jin-ho, Director of Chosun University Hospital, stated, “Based on the trust we have built with our regional partner hospitals, we will provide the highest quality medical services to local residents,” adding, “We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities and role as a leading hospital in establishing a comprehensive regional healthcare delivery system.”
