Coupang Partners with Jeollanam-do Traditional Markets to Expand Sales Channels

Collaboration for Digital Transformation of Traditional Markets
Coupang announced on September 22 that it will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government and the Jeollanam-do Merchants Association to promote the digital transformation and market expansion of traditional market merchants.
The signing ceremony, which will take place at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government office that afternoon, will be attended by Min Byungki, Vice President of Policy Cooperation at Coupang, Kang Wiwon, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeollanam-do, and Han Seungju, President of the Jeollanam-do Merchants Association. The agreement aims to support traditional market merchants in the Jeollanam-do region in entering the online marketplace and to boost their sales through Coupang.
Coupang plans to introduce and support the sales of products from traditional market merchants in Jeollanam-do through the "Good Store" special promotion until the end of the year. This promotion will feature seven markets from four counties in Jeollanam-do (Haenam, Yeonggwang, Muan, and Boseong): Boseong Local Market, Beolgyo Market, Maeil Market, Haenam-eup 5-Day Market, Muan Traditional Market, Gulbigol Yeonggwang Market, and Yeonggwang Terminal Market. Discounts of up to 10% will be offered.
Kang Wiwon, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs, stated, "Traditional markets are the backbone of the local economy and the center of daily life for ordinary citizens. Through this agreement, we will provide administrative and institutional support so that merchants can adapt to the online distribution environment and gain new growth opportunities."
