Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul, led by District Mayor Choi Hokwon, will provide comprehensive support to ensure that citizens can enjoy the 2025 Seoul International Fireworks Festival safely and comfortably, ahead of the event scheduled for September 27 at Yeouido Hangang Park.
The Seoul International Fireworks Festival is the largest festival in Korea, attracting over 1 million visitors each year. This year, it is co-hosted by Hanwha Group and SBS, with support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The festival will take place around Yeouido Hangang Park from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with the main fireworks show beginning at 7:00 p.m. Teams from three countries-Italy, Canada, and Korea-will participate.

Additional police officers and public officials will be stationed at anticipated crowd hotspots such as Seonyudo Park, Dangsan Underpass, and Saetgang Culture Bridge to eliminate potential safety blind spots. The district will closely cooperate with relevant agencies through the disaster safety communication network and a mobile situation room, and will send out emergency disaster text alerts immediately in the event of overcrowding to prevent accidents.
To ensure a pleasant viewing environment, enforcement against illegal street vendors and illegal parking will be strengthened, while cleaning vehicles, temporary trash bins, and collection points will be operated. After the festival, thorough post-event management will be carried out, including street cleaning and trash collection.
In preparation for emergencies, nurses and ambulances will be stationed on-site, and a field situation room will be operated in cooperation with seven departments. An emergency contact network will also be maintained with relevant agencies such as the fire department, police station, and Hanwha Group. For residents’ convenience, the Yeouidong Community Center will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to provide event information and restroom access.
On the day of the festival, Yeouidong-ro (from the southern end of Mapo Bridge to the 63 Building) will be completely closed to traffic from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Selective road closures will also be implemented on sections of Yeouinaru-ro and International Finance Road, while the Yeouisangnyu Interchange and Yeouidong-ro sections will be subject to flexible control.
Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, “As this is a festival visited by many people from both Korea and abroad, we will spare no effort in providing administrative support and cooperation to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors. We also ask for citizens’ voluntary cooperation in maintaining order.”
