Jeonnam Province announced that it will expand Jeonse fraud victim counseling services operated by its Eastern Regional Headquarters, aiming to support residents' housing stability and strengthen the protection of their rights.

According to Jeonnam Province, as of September 18, a total of 1,123 Jeonse fraud cases have been reported within the province, with damages amounting to 103.7 billion won. More than 70% of these cases have occurred in the eastern region, including Suncheon and Gwangyang. However, government-run Jeonse Victim Support Centers are currently located in only six areas, such as Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.

To improve accessibility for Jeonse fraud victims and support residents in need of housing-related counseling, Jeonnam Province has been operating a mobile "Housing Welfare Center - Jeonse Fraud Victim Counseling" service at the Eastern Regional Headquarters since April.

Every Monday, lawyers, judicial scriveners, certified real estate agents, and center counselors have provided one-stop counseling on Jeonse fraud. With this expansion, counseling sessions will also be available on the first and third Thursdays (afternoons) and Fridays (mornings) of each month.

Notably, after a year of continuous requests from Jeonnam Province to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation, professional staff from the Seoul Auction & Public Sale Support Center, a dedicated Jeonse fraud response unit of the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), will newly participate in the counseling services.

The Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation will offer tailored counseling on support programs, including the issuance of damage confirmation documents, guidance on auction and public sale procedures, and claims for deposit refunds, allowing victims to receive more specialized and systematic counseling.

Kwak Chunseop, Director of Architectural Development at Jeonnam Province, stated, "Strengthening the prevention of Jeonse fraud is included in the national agenda of the Lee Jaemyung administration. Together with the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation, we will support safe contracts for residents and continuously strengthen education and publicity to prevent damages."

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province conducted 10 Jeonse fraud prevention education sessions this year for 1,355 young people, including university students.
