Expanding Collaboration with Academic Exchange Events
The Department of Law and the Human Rights Center at Gyeongnam National University have signed an agreement with the Masan Branch of the Changwon District Court to promote mutual cooperation and regular academic exchanges.

View original imageThe signing ceremony took place on the 3rd floor of the small conference room at the Masan Branch of the Changwon District Court on September 16. Attendees included Hong Junghyo, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Gyeongnam National University; Seo Aram, Chief Judge of the Masan Branch; Kim Jihwan, Director of the Human Rights Center; An Jeongbin, Head of the Department of Law; Han Jihyung, Chief Judge of the Criminal Division at the Masan Branch; and Park Yeonju, Judicial Administration Support Judge at the Masan Branch, among other officials.
Through this agreement, the institutions have pledged to cooperate in nurturing talent by providing practical training for law students at Gyeongnam National University, organizing special lectures by judges from the Masan Branch for those preparing for court official positions, and holding annual academic exchange events in the field of law.
Hong Junghyo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, stated, "Every year, the Department of Law at Gyeongnam National University, the Masan Branch of the Changwon District Court, and the Human Rights Center at Gyeongnam National University successfully hold academic exchange events in law. I hope that this important platform, where local universities and the court collaborate to nurture talent, will further enhance the quality of legal education in the future."
Seo Aram, Chief Judge of the Masan Branch, remarked, "We warmly welcome the signing of this business agreement to promote mutual cooperation and regular academic exchanges between the court and the university. I hope this agreement will enhance the effectiveness of legal education and contribute to fostering legal professionals with practical skills."
Kim Jihwan, Director of the Human Rights Center, commented, "The investigative work of the Human Rights Center falls within the scope of administrative litigation, but it also encompasses elements of civil and criminal litigation. I believe that exchanges and regular academic events with the Masan Branch will greatly contribute to the development of the Human Rights Center."
An Jeongbin, Professor of Law, said, "Over the past four years, students from the Department of Law have gained hands-on experience with theory, case law, and procedural details through mock trials in the criminal court at the Masan Branch. This agreement, centered on both theoretical and practical exchanges, will serve as an important foundation for the mutual development of professors and students in the Department of Law and judges at the Masan Branch."

Meanwhile, the Department of Law at Gyeongnam National University has been focusing on nurturing talent with professional legal thinking and practical skills by hosting large-scale academic societies such as the Korean Criminal Case Studies Association, and by maintaining consistent exchanges with the Masan Branch through criminal mock trials, special lectures by the branch chief, and special lectures by judges.
