Iksan City to Provide Settlement Support Grants for Skilled Foreign Workers
"Addressing Labor Shortages and Advancing Resident Population Policies"
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will provide a settlement support grant of 300,000 won to help skilled foreign workers settle stably in the region.
According to the city on September 11, the support is available to registered foreigners who have switched to a skilled worker visa (E-7-4 or E-7-4R) after January of this year and have resided in Iksan City for at least one month. The settlement support grant will be provided in the form of local gift certificates.
This initiative was launched to encourage long-term settlement of foreign nationals who would otherwise stay only briefly, thereby increasing the resident population and responding to population decline. In addition, it is expected that skilled workers remaining in the region will help alleviate labor shortages for local businesses.
The city is conducting promotional activities to increase participation in visa conversion among foreign workers employed by local companies. It is holding information sessions for companies hiring foreigners and actively sharing information in cooperation with relevant organizations.
