The 'AI Speaker Smart Care Project' implemented by Ulju County in Ulsan is proving highly effective in preventing solitary deaths and addressing welfare blind spots by contributing to the rescue of elderly individuals living alone during crisis situations.
According to Ulju County on September 11, a man in his 60s residing in Ulju County experienced sudden difficulty breathing and mobility issues on September 1 and requested help through his AI speaker.
The AI speaker used its SOS function to immediately relay a rescue request to emergency services, and paramedics dispatched to the scene transported the patient to a nearby hospital. The man, who had difficulty moving due to complications from heart surgery, was discharged after receiving examinations and treatment.
Previously, on August 10, there was another case in which a woman in her 70s, also living alone in Ulju County, complained of a high fever and severe pain and used the AI speaker to call emergency services, resulting in her prompt transport to a hospital.
An official from Ulju County stated, "Through the AI Speaker Smart Care Project, we will strengthen the safety of elderly individuals living alone and do our utmost to prevent solitary deaths."
Ulju County signed a solitary death prevention agreement with the Ulsan Welfare Family Promotion Social Service Institute in January and has been actively promoting the 'AI Speaker Smart Care Project' for elderly individuals at risk of solitary death since March.

This project installs AI speakers in the homes of elderly individuals living alone, providing 24/7 care services through an integrated control center, 365 days a year. In addition to making emergency rescue requests in crisis situations, the AI speaker helps improve emotional stability and quality of life by providing medication reminders, dementia prevention content, and music therapy features.
