"Dementia Management Matters" ... Changwon Public Health Center Holds Dementia Awareness Week Event
Intergenerational Experience Activities and Awareness Campaigns Launched
Changwon Public Health Center in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, will hold a Dementia Awareness Week event with citizens from September 8 to September 26 to mark the 18th Dementia Awareness Day.
Dementia Awareness Day is a legally designated anniversary observed every year on September 21 to raise awareness about the importance of dementia management and to foster nationwide consensus on overcoming dementia.
The Dementia Relief Center at Changwon Public Health Center has scheduled the following activities: an online quiz event on September 8; dementia prevention education and early screening at Seongsan Hanbit Church on September 9; a promotional booth at Gyeongnam Office of Education Changwon Library on September 12; and a field trip program for preschoolers from daycare centers to the Changwon Dementia Relief Center on September 15.
The field trip program is designed as an intergenerational activity, featuring a cognitive experience zone within the center and screenings of dementia awareness animations to help young children develop a proper understanding of dementia.
In addition, a dementia awareness campaign and educational tool experience event will be held at Seongsan and Uichang Senior Welfare Centers from September 16 to September 17, and a street campaign to raise dementia awareness will take place at Gaeumjeong Market and Bansong Market from September 22 to September 24.

Oh Jaeyeon, Director of Changwon Public Health Center, stated, "Dementia is an issue that society as a whole must understand and prepare for, beyond just individuals and families," and urged, "I hope this Dementia Awareness Week event will broaden empathy and solidarity across generations and encourage citizens to actively participate in dementia prevention and early screening."
