World's Top Racehorses Gather as 8th Korea Cup and Korea Sprint Kick Off

On September 7, top-class racehorses from Korea and abroad will compete in the 8th Korea Cup (Seoul Race 8, IG3, 1,800 meters, total prize money of 1.6 billion won) and the Korea Sprint (Seoul Race 7, IG3, 1,200 meters, total prize money of 1.4 billion won) at Let's Run Park Seoul.
Launched in 2016, these two races became the first in Korean horse racing to achieve international Group 3 status, elevating Korea's standing on the global stage. This year, in particular, both races have been designated as Breeders' Cup Challenge events. The winner of the Korea Cup will earn a berth in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1), while the Korea Sprint champion will secure a spot in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1).
From overseas, six horses from Japan and two from Hong Kong have confirmed their participation. Competing in the Korea Cup will be Hong Kong's Chanchen Glory and Japan's Dura Erede, Dictation, and Ramjet. In the Korea Sprint, Hong Kong's Self Improvement and Japan's Tagano Beauty, Chikapa, and Sunrise Hawk will take on the challenge.
Top domestic contenders are also determined to restore their pride. Success Backpa and Speedyoung will compete in the Korea Cup, while Vincero Cavallo and Despite Win will enter the Korea Sprint, aiming to reclaim the winner's trophy from Japan, which has taken it for the past two years.
Previously, at a joint workshop held at the Jockey Association's main auditorium on August 21, participants shared information on overseas competitors and international race experience, devising strategies to secure a domestic victory.
The 8th Korea Cup will start at 4:45 p.m., and the Korea Sprint will begin at 3:25 p.m.
