Bomb Threats at Shinsegae Duty Free and Times Square Branches... No Explosives Found
A bomb threat was reported at the main branch of Shinsegae Duty Free in Jung-gu, Seoul, and at the Shinsegae Department Store Times Square branch in Yeongdeungpo-gu, prompting police and fire authorities to respond. However, no explosives were found.
According to fire authorities, at around 3:34 p.m. on September 2, they received a joint response request from the police after a comment threatening to bomb Shinsegae Duty Free was posted online. Fire authorities deployed 42 personnel and 9 vehicles to the scene and, together with the police, searched the area until around 6 p.m., but no explosives were discovered.
At a similar time, around 3:55 p.m., a bomb threat was also reported at the Shinsegae Department Store Times Square branch in Yeongdeungpo-gu. Police and fire authorities conducted a search, but this incident also concluded without any unusual findings.

Previously, on August 5, a post claiming that an explosive had been planted at the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store in Jung-gu, Seoul, was uploaded online, causing a commotion as more than 4,000 customers and employees evacuated. No explosives were found at that time either. The police have booked a teenage male, referred to as Mr. A, who posted the message, on charges of public intimidation and are currently investigating.
