Kakao Creative Foundation Provides Creative Workspaces to 158 Creators
Collaboration with Korea Manhwa Contents Agency
Doubling the Number of Beneficiaries from 66 Last Year
Kakao Entertainment announced on September 1 that, through the Kakao Creative Foundation, it has provided creative workspaces to forty-nine teams of creators (158 individuals).
This initiative is funded by the Kakao Creative Foundation, with the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency managing the spaces. The workspaces are located at the Webtoon Convergence Center and the Business Center in Bucheon City, and the final residents were selected through a review process. The selected creators receive support covering 75% of their rent for one year.
Last year, twenty-one teams (66 individuals) received full rent support and produced fifty-five webtoons, ten web novels and story-based works, and eight animations.
Kakao Entertainment assessed that the program contributes to a virtuous cycle in the market, and accordingly increased this year’s budget by 40% and expanded the scale of support. The company also refined the criteria for new admissions and extensions to enhance the fairness and sustainability of the program.
