Bucheon City Increases Second Supplementary Budget by 302.4 Billion Won, Focusing on Citizen-Centered Projects
On August 28, Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had submitted its "Second Supplementary Budget Proposal" to the city council, totaling 2.794 trillion won, which is an increase of 302.4 billion won compared to the first supplementary budget this year. The move aims to support economic recovery and stabilize livelihoods.
This supplementary budget focuses on projects with significant economic revitalization effects, such as a 128.3 billion won livelihood recovery consumption coupon program and the issuance of an additional 3.4 billion won in local currency (Bucheon Pay) starting in September, with a 10% incentive applied.
The city also broadly allocated customized support budgets for different generations. Budgets have been expanded for citizen-focused projects, including 500 million won for senior sports facility usage fees, 450 million won for elementary school entrance preparation funds, 700 million won for high-quality agricultural and livestock products for school meals, 200 million won for children's healthy fruit supply, 350 million won for youth basic income, and 100 million won for the "Mamteunteun" livestock product package support.
In addition, the budget includes 300 million won for nighttime operation of the natural ecological park, 500 million won for improving bus usage convenience, and 640 million won for road maintenance and repair, all aimed at expanding citizens' cultural and leisure spaces and ensuring transportation and safety rights.
Through this second supplementary budget, the city aims to stabilize citizens' livelihoods and invigorate the local economy. Moving forward, Bucheon City plans to continue operating its finances with a focus on public welfare, working closely with the city council.
