Gwangju City announced on August 28 that, to celebrate the "2025 Visit Gwangju Year," the city will host the "2025 Gwangju Sound Park Festival," its signature outdoor urban music festival, on September 6 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sajik Park and the surrounding area.
The "Gwangju Sound Park Festival" has been held annually since 2016 as an urban picnic-style music festival. It is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gwangju City, with the Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency as the main organizer.
This year, under the theme "Sound Trip in the Forest," the festival will feature a variety of band-based live performances, including acoustic indie, rock bands, and jazz. Notably, the festival is a free event held during the World Archery Championships, allowing both domestic and international visitors, as well as local residents, to freely enjoy the performances.
The lineup includes the renowned rock band "Cherry Filter," celebrating their 25th anniversary; singer-songwriter "Fromm," known for her lyrical sensibility and dreamy vocals; "Kim Seungjoo," winner of the Yoo Jaeha Music Competition; and "Macguffin," a band that blends pop and rock. In addition, indie artist "LesliE" from the Gwangju Music Creation Center, R&B artist "damse," and jazz band "Lee Gwanwoo Quartet" will also perform on stage.
At the nearby Music Industry Promotion Center, there will be additional events such as a food zone, flea market, and special planned activities. After the performances, visitors can also enjoy the "Sajik Forest of Light" media art theme park and the "Observation Tower Light Show" within Sajik Park, offering citizens and tourists a unique experience that combines music, gourmet food, and night views. More information can be found on the official Sound Park Festival Instagram and the Gwangju City website.
