Hope Bridge Partners with U.S. Relief Organization to Aid Yeongnam Wildfire Victims
On August 27, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (President Lim Chaecheong) announced that it had received a grant of $350,000 (approximately 480 million KRW) from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), a U.S.-based disaster relief fundraising organization, to support wildfire victims in the Yeongnam region and to carry out forest restoration projects.
CDP is an international nonprofit organization established in Washington, D.C. in 2010. It promotes private donations and supports long-term recovery in disaster and crisis situations worldwide.
With this support from CDP, Hope Bridge plans to provide customized relief supplies such as bedding and hygiene products to wildfire victims, as well as to restore forest ecosystems by planting native tree species in areas affected by wildfires. Through this collaboration, the two organizations aim to build and strengthen both short-term livelihood recovery and long-term resilience.
Previously, during the 2022 East Coast wildfires, Hope Bridge received approximately $110,000 (about 150 million KRW) from CDP and conducted psychological assessments and therapy programs for 180 children in the Gangwon and North Gyeongsang regions.
