Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province and local companies have joined forces to promote eco-friendly development in the city’s major industrial complexes.
On the 19th, Ansan City held a launch ceremony for the ‘Industrial Complex Environment Leaders Council’ in the large conference room of Ansan City Hall. The council aims to foster joint eco-friendly development in the Banwol, Sihwa, and Banwol Plating Industrial Complexes.

View original imageThe council includes managers from 47 environmental emission businesses and environmental engineering companies operating within the Banwol, Sihwa, and Banwol Plating Industrial Complexes. The city and participating companies will establish a cooperative system with the goals of: jointly addressing local environmental issues; strengthening public-private networks between companies and the local government; reducing non-point source pollution by area; and spreading a culture of eco-friendly management while enhancing corporate competitiveness.
About 100 people attended the launch ceremony, including Lee Mingeun, mayor of Ansan; Park Taesoon, chairman of Ansan City Council; Lee Sangjin, head of the Capital Region Air Environment Office; Park Eunjeong, chairperson of the Urban Environment Committee of Ansan City Council; and executives from member companies of the Industrial Complex Environment Leaders Council.
The council plans to hold regular meetings four times a year to discuss topics such as information and technology exchange, identifying regulatory improvement tasks for companies, and joint implementation to reduce pollution concentrations from non-point sources.

Mayor Lee stated, “Solving environmental issues for future generations is a task that must be guaranteed,” and added, “The city will actively support companies’ eco-friendly management through various measures, including support for improving pollution reduction facilities and the introduction of an environmental management points incentive system.”
