Busan Port Authority to Hold This Year’s Digital Innovation Workshop
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) will hold a public digital workshop at 1:00 p.m. on September 5 in the Event Hall on the 5th floor of the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX).
This workshop, now in its second year following last year’s inaugural event, will provide a platform for stakeholders in the port industry and the local community to participate together, including port stakeholders, students from local university logistics departments, and students from maritime-specialized high schools.
The first session of the workshop will feature a special lecture by Kim Byungjun, Director of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Korea, on the theme “AI Survival Knowledge for the Next Three Years.”
Drawing on his experience at a leading global cloud service provider, Kim will introduce specific examples to illustrate how AI is driving transformation in the logistics and port industries, as well as how individuals and organizations should prepare for these changes.
The second session will feature the popular YouTuber “Paperlogy,” who has 260,000 subscribers, delivering a lecture on “Winning Planning with chatGPT.”
Participants will learn practical ways to utilize chatGPT based on real-world examples, including document creation, idea generation, data summarization, and translation, as well as strategies to enhance productivity and creativity.
BPA President Song Sangkeun stated, “Digital innovation technology is not only a core factor determining the competitiveness of ports, but also a new language that many people must learn together. Through this workshop, Busan Port Authority will further strive to achieve two goals: strengthening port competitiveness through technological innovation and expanding citizen participation.”
Busan Port, the world’s second-largest transshipment port and a key hub for Korea’s import and export logistics, is actively adopting digital technologies such as AI, big data, and automation to gain an edge in the global technological competition among ports.

Busan Port Authority plans to make this workshop a sustainable digital capacity-building program rather than a one-off event. The authority will continue to host educational and networking events related to AI, big data, and smart logistics, aiming to foster a digital ecosystem that includes not only port workers but also local youth, entrepreneurs, and the general public.
