He also visited an early-maturing rice harvest site, where he encouraged the hard work of farmers and pledged substantial support for agricultural policies.
During the rice farmers' meeting held in Podu-myeon, members of the association engaged in an open and candid discussion on current issues facing the rice industry and the future direction of related policies.
The Jeollanam-do Association of Korean Rice Farmers presented a plaque of appreciation to Governor Kim, expressing gratitude for his continued interest in and support for the development of the rice industry in Jeollanam-do.
Governor Kim emphasized, "Although our rural communities are facing a complex crisis due to rice overproduction, declining consumption, and an aging rural population, the recent passage of amendments to the four major agricultural laws, including the Grain Management Act, in the National Assembly is creating a new turning point for the rice industry."
Following the meeting, an early-maturing rice harvest event was held, attended by Goheung County Governor Gong Youngmin, Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly members Song Hyungon and Park Seonjun, President Shin Jeongok of the Jeollanam-do Association of Korean Rice Farmers and the city and county presidents, as well as Kim Jungkwon, Vice President for External Cooperation of the Jeollanam-do Association, and about 30 participants in total.
Governor Kim personally operated a combine harvester to demonstrate rice harvesting and greeted and encouraged each farmer individually.
He went on to say, "I am grateful to the farmers who have achieved a good harvest this year despite challenging conditions such as abnormal weather. It is very meaningful to be able to share in the joy of a bountiful year."
