Party Launches Multiple Committees to Prepare for Next Year's Local Elections
The Democratic Party of Korea has launched the Special Committee for Organizational Reinforcement, the Party Membership Qualification Review Committee, and the Local Election Planning Task Force simultaneously, as it begins preparations for the nationwide local elections scheduled for June 3 next year.

View original imageOn August 11, Democratic Party spokesperson Kwon Hyangyeop announced after a closed Supreme Council meeting that these agenda items would be submitted to the Party Affairs Committee.
According to spokesperson Kwon, at the closed Supreme Council meeting held that day, the party approved the formation of the Special Committee for Organizational Reinforcement and the Party Membership Qualification Review Committee, as well as the establishment of the Local Election Planning Task Force for next year. Cho Seungrae, the party's secretary general, was appointed as the head of the election planning task force.
The Democratic Party also launched the "Preparatory Committee for the Election of a Supreme Council Member from Among Ordinary Party Members." Representative Jang Kyungtae was appointed as the head of the committee, with Lee Haesik and Moon Jungbok serving as deputy heads.

Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk Iksan-gap constituency, previously represented by Lee Choonseok, who was expelled over allegations of trading stocks under an aide's name and using undisclosed information for stock transactions, was designated as a "problematic district party." The party plans to announce the appointment of an acting district committee chairperson, a position left vacant due to Lee's expulsion, at a later date.
