On August 11, the special prosecutor's team announced, "The special prosecutor will not attend Kim Gunhee's warrant review; instead, eight prosecutors, including Chief Prosecutor Han Moonhyeok, will be present." The warrant review will take place at 10:10 a.m. on August 12 at the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Jeong Jaewook, who is in charge of warrants.
The special prosecutor's team submitted a 572-page opinion recommending detention to the court on August 7, and on the morning of August 11, submitted an additional 276-page opinion. By submitting a total of approximately 840 pages of opinions, the special prosecutor's team appears to be focusing its efforts on securing Kim Gunhee's custody.
The special prosecutor's team has requested a detention warrant for Kim Gunhee in relation to the following allegations: ▲ stock price manipulation involving Deutsche Motors ▲ intervention in the nomination process for Myung Taegyun ▲ improper solicitation involving Geonjin Bopsa.
During questioning of Kim Gunhee, the special prosecutor's team pressed her on several points: ▲ whether she had prior knowledge of the Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation ▲ whether she intervened in the nomination process in exchange for receiving free public opinion polling from Mr. Myung ahead of the 2022 presidential election ▲ whether she was involved in lobbying on behalf of the Unification Church in return for receiving a diamond necklace and luxury bag worth tens of millions of won ▲ who owned the Van Cleef & Arpels necklace she wore during the NATO summit trip and why it was not reported in her asset disclosure.
In response, Kim Gunhee reportedly stated that she "did not know about the stock price manipulation in advance and was not involved in any collusion." Regarding the nomination intervention allegation, she claimed that "Mr. Myung unilaterally sent the public opinion poll and I did not intervene in the nomination process." She also denied involvement in the Unification Church lobbying, saying, "I never received a necklace or a luxury bag." As for the Van Cleef & Arpels necklace, she explained, "It is an imitation, and I borrowed it back from my mother after giving it to her as a gift."
As Kim Gunhee continued to provide statements lacking credibility even on basic facts and essentially maintained a stance of "not knowing," the special prosecutor's team decided to secure her custody first and continue further investigation.

Former President Yoon Sukyeol is currently being held at the Seoul Detention Center.
