Dong-A University Selected for School Enterprise Support Project... Advancing as a Digital Healthcare Hub in Busan
Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) has been selected for the Ministry of Education's '2025 Fourth-Stage School Enterprise Support Project,' emerging as a central hub for the regional healthcare industry.
The university’s school enterprise, Dong-A Functional Exercise Training Center (D-FET), will secure a total of 1.1 billion won in national funding over the next five years through this selection, and will fully launch efforts to provide digital health-based exercise prescriptions and foster practical, work-ready talent.
D-FET received high marks among universities nationwide in the lifestyle-oriented category for the feasibility of its integrated sports healthcare strategy.
Its key strengths include: a digital health-based customized exercise prescription system; a regionally integrated health service model; and the establishment of a system that connects hands-on training with employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Through this project, Dong-A University plans to provide the local community with customized health services throughout the life cycle, including youth body shape correction, fall prevention for the elderly, fatigue management for industrial workers, and exercise prescriptions based on gut microbiome analysis. In particular, the university aims to implement a practical living lab platform that combines 'university-industry-local community' cooperation by linking various academic fields such as physical education, sports medicine, food and nutrition, and AI convergence.
Jeon Hyungpil, professor of physical education and director of the center, stated, "Being selected for this project is more than just financial support; it is national recognition of Dong-A University's expertise in sports medicine and its capacity for social implementation," adding, "We will continue to expand practical health service models, such as AI-based precision exercise prescription apps and the commercialization of gut microbiome analysis content."
Since its autonomous establishment in 2022, D-FET has provided exercise and rehabilitation programs to more than 2,000 citizens over the past three years. During this process, many participating students have achieved tangible results, such as entering the rehabilitation exercise field, advancing to graduate school, and starting their own businesses.
