This conference is an international event with participation from ten countries, including Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, Australia, and Switzerland. It is recognized as a prestigious academic exchange platform for sharing fundamental design theories and creative achievements in the fields of art and design.
The Sangmyung University research team addressed the development of customized digital content for "children with borderline intelligence," who do not have intellectual disabilities but experience slower cognitive development, under the theme "Development Strategies for Edutainment Content to Improve Social Literacy in Slow Learners."
They planned the content "Help Friends in the Book," designed to help slow-learning children, especially those around the time of entering elementary school, understand and respond to social situations within the school environment.
This content combines fairy tale-based storytelling with board game-style puzzles, aiming to enhance both the social literacy and cognitive abilities of children.
In particular, features such as user avatar customization, a repetitive learning structure, and an intuitive user interface were highly praised for their consideration of actual child users in both interface and graphic implementation.
First author Ryu Jiwon stated, "It was meaningful to participate in developing content for children who are easily marginalized," and added, "I am happy that we were able to achieve results by collaborating with my teammates from planning to research and design."
Professor Heo Young said, "It is very significant that the results, which students planned and implemented themselves through classes and industry-academic cooperation, have been recognized academically," and added, "The AI Media Content major is nurturing digital content talent through a convergent curriculum, including the use of generative AI and practical training programs."
