Proportion of Female Managers at Gyeonggi Public Institutions Surpasses 35% for the First Time
The proportion of female managers at public institutions under the Gyeonggi Provincial Government has surpassed 35% for the first time, reaching 35.1%.
As of the end of June this year, the proportion of female public officials in managerial positions at level 5 or higher at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government was 31.5%. The proportion of female managers at public institutions under the province stood at 35.1%. On July 24, the province announced that both figures have exceeded the pledges made by Governor Kim Dongyeon at the start of his term (30% and 35%, respectively).
During the 8th popularly elected administration, the percentage of female managers at level 5 or higher at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government has steadily increased: from 27.1% in 2022 (the first year of the term), to 28.5% in 2023, and 30.5% in 2024. Governor Kim Dongyeon's pledge to raise the proportion of female managers from 23.9% at the end of 2021 to over 30% was realized by the end of last year.
The proportion of female managers at public institutions also broke the 35% mark for the first time this year, rising from 34% in 2022, to 34.3% in 2023, and 34.5% in 2024.
By institution, the Gyeonggi Women and Family Foundation recorded the highest proportion at 83.3%. This was followed by Gyeonggi Medical Center (67.2%), Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation (62.5%), and Gyeonggi Job Foundation (56.7%).

At the recent 40th Gyeonggi Women’s Conference, Governor Kim Dongyeon stated, "At the beginning of my term, I promised to do my utmost to increase women’s participation in social and economic activities and to break the glass ceiling in our society, and I have put this into practice starting with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government." He emphasized his commitment to competency-based appointments regardless of gender, saying, "It is not a matter of giving women special preference, but rather because they possess outstanding abilities."
