Youngil Kim, Chief of Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station: "Citizen Safety Comes First"
Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station announced on June 30 that Youngil Kim will assume office as the 48th Chief starting July 1.
After graduating from Chonnam National University in 1994, he began his firefighting career in 1997 as a member of the 9th class of officer candidates. He has held key positions at the Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters, the Fire Academy, and the Seobu, Nambu, and Gwangsan Fire Stations, demonstrating outstanding administrative skills and on-site command capabilities.
In 2023, he served as the 23rd Chief of Gwangsan Fire Station, and in 2024, as the Head of the Fire Prevention Division at Gwangju Fire Safety Headquarters. Starting July 1, he will take on the role of Chief at Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station.
Chief Youngil Kim stated, "I will prioritize the safety of citizens and create a fire station where all members can grow and communicate together." He added, "Under the service principles of 'Happy Companionship, Communication, Consideration, and Respect,' I will strive to build a trustworthy fire organization."
