Gyeonggi Province Appoints Youngin Ko as Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs... New Chiefs for Political, Policy, Cooperative Governance, Opportunity Gyeonggi, and Chief of Staff
Gyeonggi Province has appointed former National Assembly member Youngin Ko as the new Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, former National Assembly member Junho Yoon as Chief Secretary for Political Affairs, former Executive Director of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency Jungon An as Chief Secretary for Policy, former Gyeonggi Provincial Council member Yongjin Park as Chief Secretary for Cooperative Governance, former Blue House Secretary for Citizen Participation Gwonchan Kang as Chief Secretary for Opportunity Gyeonggi, and former Blue House Administrative Officer Hyejin Cho as Chief of Staff. This is the first time a woman has been appointed as Chief of Staff to the Governor in Gyeonggi Province.
On June 4, Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim presented appointment letters to these individuals at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building.

View original imageDeputy Governor for Economic Affairs Youngin Ko served as a member of the 21st National Assembly, acting as secretary of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee and as the Democratic Party floor deputy leader. From November last year to April, he previously served as Gyeonggi Province's Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs. Ko was appointed to lead the province’s economy in the second half of the 8th popular administration, not only for his political acumen but also for his expertise in economic affairs.
Chief Secretary for Political Affairs Junho Yoon is a former member of the 20th National Assembly and has served as the Democratic Party floor deputy leader, a member of the National Assembly Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee, and as Deputy Head of the Democratic Party Education and Training Institute. Having served as Gyeonggi Province’s Chief Secretary for Political Affairs from November last year to April, Yoon was recognized for his political abilities and will be responsible for external cooperation, including with the National Assembly and central government ministries.
Chief Secretary for Policy Jungon An is an expert in planning and policy, having served as Senior Administrative Officer in the Blue House Office of Planning, Executive Director of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and Chief of Staff to the Gyeonggi Province Governor. Based on his expertise demonstrated in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises’ overseas expansion and startup policies during his time at the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, he is expected to invigorate the province’s overall policy agenda.
Chief Secretary for Cooperative Governance Yongjin Park, a former member of the 8th Gyeonggi Provincial Council, will be responsible for cooperation and communication with the Gyeonggi Provincial Council. Having served as Director of Legislative Planning at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Secretariat, Park is expected to leverage both political and practical skills to foster collaboration with the council and other sectors.
Chief Secretary for Opportunity Gyeonggi Gwonchan Kang served as Senior Administrative Officer in the Blue House Office for State Affairs Planning and Office of Planning, and later as Secretary for Citizen Participation. From September 2022 to last April, he served as Chief Secretary for Opportunity Gyeonggi, planning the overall administration of the 8th popular government, and has been appointed as the right person to successfully complete Governor Dongyeon Kim’s major pledges.

Chief of Staff Hyejin Cho served as an administrative officer in the Blue House Office of Social Affairs and most recently worked as secretary in the Governor’s Office of Gyeonggi Province. She has also served as the 28th Chair of the Democratic Party Aides’ Association, Director of External Cooperation at the Presidential Committee on Low Birthrate and Aging Society, Deputy Spokesperson of the Democratic Party, and Head of Public Relations for the National Innovation Party. Recognized for her extensive policy and political capabilities, she has been appointed as Gyeonggi Province’s first female Chief of Staff.
