Gwangju Korean Teachers' Union Awards Scholarships to 24 Children and Adolescents
The Gwangju branch of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union announced on May 29 that it had awarded a total of 12 million won in scholarships to 24 local children and adolescents facing difficult circumstances.

View original imageThe union has been running its scholarship program every year by collecting part of the union dues paid by its members, as well as salaries returned to teachers who were dismissed and then reinstated. The scholarship recipients were selected based on recommendations from teachers affiliated with the union and local civil society organizations.
A representative of the union stated, "This is not just financial support; it is also an expression of encouragement from teachers to students, and it carries the meaning of solidarity in building a better world together."
