Yeongsangang Environmental Office to Hold Special Training for Small-Scale Waste Generators
Guidance for 50 Businesses in Yeosu on the 21st
Including Examples of Repeated Violations
The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office announced on May 20 that it will hold a special training session on proper waste management and disposal methods for 50 small-scale designated waste-generating companies in the Gwangyang Bay area. The training will take place in Yeosu at 2:00 p.m. on May 21.
This training targets small-scale businesses that generate less than 200 tons of designated waste annually. Compared to large-scale businesses, these small-scale businesses lack specialized personnel and management systems, resulting in an increase in violations of waste-related laws from 4.3% in 2022 to 11.8% in 2024.
The training will cover topics such as classification and storage standards for designated waste, precautions when discharging waste, procedures for handing over and receiving waste, and examples of repeated violations. It will also include a Q&A session to share on-site difficulties.
Kim Youngwoo, head of the office, stated, "We will expand technical support and information provision for small businesses so that waste management can become more advanced."
