Ministry of Environment Revises Registration Standards for Public Sewage-Related Businesses
The Ministry of Environment will revise the registration standards for public sewage management agencies and specialized technical inspection institutions.
On the 27th, the Ministry of Environment announced that it had reviewed and approved a partial amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Sewerage Act containing these measures at a Cabinet meeting held at the Government Complex Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Previously, when a public sewage management agency registered as a specialized technical inspection institution, or vice versa, each was required to possess all the equipment necessary to meet the registration standards and requirements for both types of business. Under the newly amended Enforcement Decree of the Sewerage Act, if an entity registers for both business types, it will no longer be required to duplicate possession of 15 types of equipment that are common to both fields.
Additionally, the qualification titles for technical personnel, which are part of the registration standards for both public sewage management agencies and specialized technical inspection institutions, have been updated to align with the Enforcement Rules of the National Technical Qualifications Act. As a result, the title 'Industrial Engineer in Mechanical Maintenance' has been changed to 'Industrial Engineer in Facility Maintenance,' and 'Engineer in Biotechnology' has been changed to 'Engineer in Bio-Chemical Product Manufacturing.'
Cho Heesong, Director General for Water Environment Policy at the Ministry of Environment, stated, "We will continue to improve the system so that the public sewage management system can be operated efficiently in the future."
