LG Display's Fourth-Generation OLED Technology Paper Selected as SID 'Outstanding Paper'
On May 18, LG Display announced that its research paper on fourth-generation OLED panel technology was selected as an 'Outstanding Paper of the Year' by the Society for Information Display (SID).
In this paper, LG Display researchers presented the achievements of the fourth-generation OLED panel, which significantly improves luminance, color reproduction, and energy efficiency. The key innovation is the 'Primary RGB Tandem' structure, which arranges red (R), green (G), and blue (B) in separate layers. This structure enables a peak luminance of up to 4,000 nits, the highest in the industry.

Each year, SID selects the top 5% of more than 500 papers submitted worldwide as 'Outstanding Papers.'
LG Display also plans to present 16 papers on next-generation display technologies at SID 2025, which will be held next year. The company introduced research results on a 480Hz OLED panel featuring Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology, which automatically adjusts refresh rate and resolution according to the content displayed.
