AI Evacuation Guidance System to Be Installed at 18 Incheon Line 1 Stations... Completion by December
Incheon City will establish an artificial intelligence (AI)-based evacuation guidance system at 18 stations on Incheon Subway Line 1 by December this year.
The city, which was selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's "Smart Village Distribution and Expansion" public project, plans to invest approximately 4 billion won from national and municipal funds to install additional fire detectors and evacuation guidance devices throughout subway stations, including concourses and platforms.
Through this initiative, in the event of a fire, the AI will analyze the location and extent of the fire and calculate the optimal evacuation route, which will then be displayed on the evacuation guidance devices. Currently, fire detectors in subway stations are installed by dividing each floor into 2 to 8 zones, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact location of a fire.
Previously, since 2023, the city has been operating pilot programs of the AI evacuation guidance system at Incheon City Hall Station and Incheon Terminal Station.
