Violating Security Regulations and Printing Technology Without Authorization
Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Indicts Former Employee on May 7
The prosecution has indicted a former SK hynix employee, identified as Mr. A (age 50), for leaking advanced technology to a subsidiary of Huawei in China while in detention.
On May 7, the Information Technology Crime Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, led by Chief Prosecutor Ahn Donggeon, announced that Mr. A, who worked at SK hynix's Chinese subsidiary, had been indicted and detained on charges of illegally leaking CIS (semiconductor devices that convert light into digital signals) technology data. The investigation found that he orchestrated this scheme after receiving a job offer from HiSilicon, a Huawei subsidiary.
According to the prosecution, Mr. A violated security regulations by printing or photographing advanced technology and trade secret documents from the company's internal document management system, thereby misappropriating trade secrets. He also disclosed SK hynix's trade secret materials by submitting resumes referencing this confidential information to two Chinese companies.
