The training was led by a professional instructor from Laos who has lived in Korea for over 15 years, providing essential information on the seasonal worker system and useful tips for adapting to life in Korea.
The public seasonal worker program is designed to address the temporary labor shortages in agriculture during sowing and harvesting seasons. Local governments introduce seasonal workers through MOUs with countries that send overseas workers, and NongHyup signs labor contracts with foreign workers under the 'Foreign Seasonal Worker Program' to supply labor to farms in need.
This year, 15 NongHyup branches in the province are operating the public seasonal worker program, with a total of about 260 workers expected to arrive from Vietnam, Laos, and the Philippines.
Lee Kwangil, head of Jeonnam NongHyup, said, "The public seasonal worker program operated by NongHyup is greatly helping to alleviate the growing shortage of rural agricultural labor," adding, "Jeonnam NongHyup will continue to provide various support in cooperation with local governments to help foreign workers adapt to life in Korea as quickly as possible."
