Verdict for Lee Jae-myung's Appeal Trial on the Public Official Election Act on the 26th
The court has decided to strengthen security ahead of next week's second preparatory hearing for President Yoon Seok-yeol and the second trial election for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding violations of the Public Official Election Act.
On the 20th, the Seoul Court Complex stated, "Major trials and sentencing dates are scheduled for next week, and numerous protests have been reported near the court building, which may attract large crowds," adding, "We plan to close some entrances and exits and conduct thorough security checks."
Additionally, from 8 p.m. on the 21st until midnight on the 27th, access to the premises will be completely prohibited for general vehicles except for those performing essential duties, and the use of vehicles is discouraged.
The Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 25 (Presiding Judge Ji Gui-yeon) will hold President Yoon's second preparatory hearing on the 24th. It is unknown whether President Yoon will attend. Defendants are not required to be present at preparatory hearings.
Subsequently, on the 26th, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Division 6-2 (Presiding Judges Choi Eun-jeong, Lee Ye-seul, and Jung Jae-oh) will deliver the verdict on Lee's appeal trial for the Public Official Election Act violation case.
