Gyeonggi-do to Promote Government Urban Regeneration Project Contest in the First Half of 2025
Gyeonggi Province will accept applications for project sites to participate in the government urban regeneration project aimed at improving the residential environment of small-scale, aging low-rise residential areas until April 17.
The urban regeneration project is designed to improve the residential environment by quickly supplying community-oriented public facilities to small residential areas that have lost vitality due to population outflow and building aging, as well as enhancing urban landscapes, revitalizing alleys, and supporting vulnerable residents.
Project sites must meet the conditions of declining areas under the Urban Regeneration Act, such as population and business decline and an increase in aging buildings, with a recommended area of approximately 50,000㎡. The project period is from 2026 to 2029, and the project cost will be up to 8.3 billion KRW per site, including national and local government funds.

When cities and counties apply, Gyeonggi Province will conduct a preliminary review, and the final selection will be made at the end of August through central evaluation and the Urban Regeneration Special Committee's deliberation.
Before accepting applications, Gyeonggi Province plans to conduct a demand survey and provide focused on-site consulting through 75 urban regeneration advisory experts for the prospective participating areas to enhance the feasibility and validity of the city and county project plans.
Kim Tae-su, Director of Urban Regeneration at Gyeonggi Province, said, "We will do our best to discover project sites and support consulting to improve the quality of life for residents through the maintenance of aging low-rise residential areas."
