Trump "Tariff Policy, Will Never Bend... Will Incorporate Greenland"
Will to Impose Reciprocal Tariffs Reaffirmed
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 13th (local time) that he will "never back down" regarding tariff policies.
After meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House that day, President Trump told reporters, "We have been robbed for years, but from now on, we will no longer be taken advantage of."
He also reiterated plans to impose reciprocal tariffs in response to the tariffs and non-tariff barriers imposed by other countries. The announcement of the reciprocal tariffs is scheduled for April 2.
Earlier, President Trump announced that he would impose a 200% tariff on all alcoholic beverages imported from the European Union (EU). This was a hint at retaliation after the EU decided to impose a 50% tariff on American whiskey as one of its countermeasures against the 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum that the U.S. enacted on the 12th.
Regarding a question about the merger of Danish Greenland, President Trump responded, "I think that will happen," once again emphasizing his intention to incorporate Greenland.
