"Lincoln Met by Roh Moo-hyun"
On the 13th, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, continued his efforts for party unity by meeting with Lee Kwang-jae, former Secretary General of the National Assembly and considered a 'dark horse' candidate, to discuss national economic and political issues.
The two held a tea meeting that afternoon at a restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul. After the meeting, they told reporters that policy suggestions were exchanged.
Lee said, "I received many very valuable suggestions regarding economic issues and national politics," adding, "They will greatly help the Democratic Party's policy decisions and judgments." He also noted, "He often shares good ideas with me."
Former Secretary General Lee presented Lee with a book titled Lincoln Met by Roh Moo-hyun, written by the late President Roh Moo-hyun himself, emphasizing 'Lincoln leadership.' He explained, "President Lincoln not only achieved the historic accomplishment of abolishing slavery but also united the United States into a single federal nation," adding, "In a crisis-stricken Republic of Korea, new leadership like Lincoln's is needed, and the Democratic Party should learn this to gain more love from the people."
He also stated, "The most important issue is the economy," and revealed, "There was a discussion about the need for a major transformation to an innovative economy based on four pillars, including artificial intelligence (AI) and the climate crisis."
