Parents Claim They Checked the Baby via Home Camera
A 23-month-old baby was found dead in an apartment in Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, prompting a police investigation.
On the 20th, police and fire authorities reported that a 119 emergency call was received around 4:10 a.m. from an apartment in Pyeongnae-dong, Namyangju-si, stating that a baby was not breathing.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, the baby was face down and in cardiac arrest. The baby was transported to the hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but ultimately passed away.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident with the parents, a man in his 30s identified as Mr. A, and a woman in her 30s identified as Ms. B.
It was understood that the couple had gone out around 10 p.m. the previous day and were playing games at a PC bang when they checked the baby's condition via a home camera and noticed something unusual, prompting them to return home and report the incident.
According to the police, the parents stated that the baby had recently been unwell and had visited a hospital where medication was prescribed. During the police investigation, Mr. A and his wife said, "We gave the baby medicine, put the baby to sleep, and then went out. Later, when we checked the baby via the home camera and saw no movement, we sensed something was wrong and came back home."
