Coupang Eats to Implement Win-Win Plan from April... Up to 7.8% Reduction
Delivery app Coupang Eats has decided to apply a differentiated commission rate ranging from 2.0% to 7.8% based on sales, down from the previous flat rate of 9.8%, starting in April. On the 18th, Coupang Eats announced the implementation plan for this win-win pricing system. This is to implement the win-win plan agreed upon last year by the delivery platform win-win council.
With the implementation of the win-win pricing system, Coupang Eats' brokerage fee will be reduced by up to 7.8% compared to the previous 9.8%. The Coupang Eats win-win pricing system applies to all food delivery stores and differentiates the brokerage fee and the delivery fee borne by the store owners into four tiers according to the sales scale within Coupang Eats.
When the win-win pricing system is implemented, based on the industry average order amount of 25,000 KRW, costs will decrease by up to 1,950 KRW in three tiers compared to the existing smart pricing system, and one tier will remain the same, allowing the majority of restaurant owners to reduce their cost burden compared to the current situation, the company explained. Store owners in the bottom 65% sales tier will see cost reductions regardless of order amount, and those in the bottom 20% tier will be subject to brokerage fees at the level of public delivery apps.

From the 1st to the end of each month, the win-win pricing tier is calculated based on actual monthly sales, and the difference between the amount settled at the basic brokerage fee of 7.8% for that month and the calculated amount will be refunded within five business days of the following month. Even if a new store owner registers mid-month, the system applies based on monthly sales from the business day, allowing them to receive win-win pricing benefits from the month of operation. This system can reflect the appropriate win-win pricing tier for months with low sales due to seasonality or other factors, providing a plan that helps store owners reduce their burden during difficult times.
Additionally, ahead of the win-win pricing system application, Coupang Eats decided to quickly implement receipt labeling, as agreed by the delivery app win-win council, starting from the 18th of this month. From now on, customer receipts within the Coupang Eats app will display detailed information on brokerage fees, payment fees, and delivery fees borne by the store.
