Identity of the 'Diligent and Sincere' Female Employee Caught on CCTV... Turns Out to Be a 'Yakgukteolibeom' (Pharmacy Burglar)
Stole Expensive Medicine Every Day in a Dark Pharmacy
Damages Estimated Over 5 Million Won... Accused of Embezzlement
A pharmacy employee was caught stealing medicine after secretly coming to work 20 minutes early every day.
On the 13th, JTBC’s ‘Case Manager’ covered a report received from pharmacist A, who runs a pharmacy in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The assistant employee B, hired by A last year, had prior experience working in pharmacies. He was trusted by A for his diligent attitude, performing tasks such as inventory management and billing well, and always arriving 20 minutes early. A even consulted and followed B’s opinions when hiring new pharmacists.
However, one day, after a customer had an altercation with B, A checked the pharmacy’s CCTV and discovered a shocking fact.
A said, “I thought B came early to prepare for opening, but the CCTV footage showed him roaming around the dark pharmacy, stuffing medicine into his bag.” He added, “I was so shocked that I reviewed past footage and found that the employee had stolen medicine on every day he worked.”
B was confirmed to have stolen not only expensive supplements like vitamins and melatonin but also prescription drugs that cannot be purchased without a doctor’s prescription.
A revealed that the confirmed damage amount from the employee’s crimes so far exceeds 2 million won. Since these crimes had been ongoing for some time, the total damage was estimated to reach 5 million won.
Eventually, A lay in wait and caught B in the act of committing the crime. When caught on site, B excused himself by saying, “I was going to pay later,” but A fired B and filed a complaint for embezzlement.
A said, “After the employee was fired, he sent an apology email claiming, ‘I have bipolar disorder and found it hard to resist the impulse to steal,’ but seeing that he came early every morning like a routine, it seems planned.”

He also stated, “Because B had extensive pharmacy experience, he appeared to be good at his job,” and added, “I reported this to prevent other victims from occurring.”
