On the 11th, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Shim Jae-guk) announced that, following the revision of the Farmland Act, it is now possible to install a 33㎡-sized "Rural Stay Shelter" that can be used as a temporary lodging on farmland.

If additional installation of electricity, water supply, and wastewater treatment facilities is desired, a separate reporting procedure must be followed according to relevant laws, and safety standards such as disaster prevention zones must be observed. Fire extinguishers and standalone smoke detectors are mandatory.
Remaining farmland, excluding the shelter and auxiliary facilities, must be used for cultivating crops. Additionally, the shelter is a facility intended for temporary human residence and can only be installed on farmland adjacent to roads to allow fire-fighting activities for prompt response in emergencies such as fires.
Those wishing to install the shelter must report the construction of the temporary building at the relevant eup/myeon office before installation, and after installation, it must be registered in the farmland ledger within 60 days in accordance with the Farmland Act.
